Joseph Wiley

Biography
Joseph (Joey) Wiley is a multi-instrumentalist and recording enthusiast who made his radio debut with an impression of a gorilla for $100 worth of fireworks in a Saturday morning contest sometime in the early 90s on a country radio station called KBEAR in Anchorage, Alaska. After his family moved to Laramie Wyoming, he heard a hockey teammate play Buddy Holly from Weezer’s Blue album in the locker room and his life was forever changed by rock ‘n roll.
His first guitar experience was gained playing with his parents for the Sacred Heart Church in Paonia, Colorado and he was one of only a handful of students to make All State for both choir and band (tenor II and euphonium, respectively). He started making bedroom recordings during high school on the western slope of Colorado and later played garage rock across the front range of Colorado, opening for bands such as Deerhoof, Thee Oh Sees, Marnie Stern, Speedy Ortiz and the Appleseed Cast in the late 2000s – early 2010s.
After graduating with an engineering degree from the Colorado School of Mines in late 2011, he moved to Florida in March of 2017. His genres of interest span the globe, from Brazilian tropicalia and bossa nova to Javanese gamelan, to British mod-psych, to afrobeat, disco-boogie, to Jamaican ska, rocksteady, reggae and dancehall, to French musique concrete and field recordings, to all flavors of garage rock. He is eager to assist you however he can in your musical journey.
